All golds are made from 24 carat gold leaf. The lustrous blue, copper and silver are coloured white gold that has been sealed under a thin layer of glass. A big saving on first quality golds, they are seconds because they may be irregular in size, slightly chipped or scratched. They still look wonderful! The imperfections are part of the charm and can give your art an 'antiqued' look.
Note: As seconds are a byproduct of individual mosaic projects from the studio attached to the Mexican factory, they are not always available.
The latest flat and wavy golds are beautiful and good quality - but being so shiny they are very difficult to photograph.
The blue gold comes in random shapes, known as "nails". The blue is selling at a 25% reduction on price on our usual gold range.
WARNING. The plain white gold will often flake off when cut, so is best left as whole tessera. We are selling this at cost price. However the wavy white gold that arrived in April 19 is good quality.
The copper gold mix comes on a variety of glass backings; blue, clear and smoky brown. Gold side up it is all the same rich luminescence.
100g gold is very approximately 70-80 pieces and, as being seconds, they vary in size.
